The Mike Hike 5K Run/Walk is an annual event honoring PFC Michael Olivieri. The friends and family of Mike Olivieri have joined forces with the Homer Glen Foundation to preserve the memory of this hometown hero who tragically lost his life while serving in Iraq on June 6, 2011. Proceeds raised through this event will commemorate our local heroes while supporting improvements to our community trails and parks.

Proceeds raised through this event will commemorate our local heroes while supporting improvements to our community trails and parks. Previous Mike Hikes have funded the Michael C. Olivieri Memorial Garden, the Hiawatha Trail Extension, the Homer Glen Foundation Heroes Trail Bench and the Heroes Trail Mile Marker Posts. Event organizers plan to use proceeds from this year's event to fund a Veterans Plaza.
